Prospekt — collaboration with Igor Posner

Prospekt is a collaborative visual-poetry project pairing Malik Ameer's writing with photographs by Igor Posner, produced as a printed object for distribution at readings and small-press showcases.

The pairing of Posner's lens-based images with the poems was issued as part of the 2004–2010 body of printed work.

The written word carries its own kind of dissonance, a fractured mirror held up to the self. These collected pieces from the mid-2000s trace a path through experimental prose and poetry that resists easy categorization, much like the sonic textures of dreampop and glitch that accompany the broader project. Themes of dysphoria and othering emerge across these pages, not as fixed statements but as ongoing questions about identity and belonging. The words sit somewhere between confession and collage, borrowing from the fragmented logic of dreams and the sharp edges of lived experience. Each piece becomes a small artifact of a particular moment, preserved in ink.

Collaboration has always been central to how these writings took shape. Working across disciplines with other artists, musicians, and writers, the pieces gathered here reflect a porous boundary between print and performance, between the page and the stage. The texts were born from sessions where words met sound, where poetry found its way into radio broadcasts and festival stages across Europe and beyond. This cross-pollination of mediums echoes the experimental ethos that runs through the entire body of work, where no single form holds authority and every piece remains open to reinterpretation through another artist's lens.

These early writings sit as precursors to the sonic landscapes that would follow, mapping out territories later explored through albums and live performances. The prose and poems from this period contain seeds of what would bloom into full-band arrangements and collaborative recordings, sharing the same restless energy and refusal to settle into comfortable forms. Reading them now reveals throughlines of concern with displacement, transformation, and the construction of selfhood that continue to animate later work. They stand as documents of a formative creative period, raw and unpolished, yet already reaching toward the experimental terrain that defines everything that came after.
